Beautiful Sophie with the loving puggy eyes…
Her story of abuse and neglect would make anyone cry….
A busy happy girl who loves to join in with everything…
Soft natured and a touch of cheekiness that will make you grin…
Sophie arrived into care with horrendous BOAS “Brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome” which was very obvious to hear & see how distressed she was constantly…
This poor girl has callouses on her hind legs from laying on concrete, wasn’t desexed and most likely bred with, had rotting disgusting teeth and hip issues that makes her hind legs sway…
Her previous owners said she had absolutely nothing wrong with her but they didn’t want her anymore when really they knew they had neglected and broken her and have thrown her away…
The noises Sophie was making were not funny or cute or her talking it literally means her airway was being blocked off by excessive soft tissue and laryngeal collapse and for 7 years she was suffocating…
She was bumped up the surgery list for emergency BOAS surgery with Dr Ricky & the MARS team when she arrived into our care…
Whilst you can’t completely fix what is broken her BOAS surgery was successful and she’s now breathing more freely air…
Hip xrays showed hip dysplasia but with regular exercise Sophie is now great on her feet and goes fast everywhere…
Sophie underwent her major dental, lump removals and desexing/spey and vaccination with Dr Sharon and the Knox Vet Team and she did fine…
18+ rotten gross teeth removed..
We know Sophie not only feels much better but her breath has much improved..
And no more chances for puppies for her now that her desexing has been done…
It’s horrible that anyone could think that it was a great idea for Sophie to be a mum
Trotting about or running at full speed jumping around…..
Sophie is the sweetest puggy clown….
Great with puggy boys..
She likes to play with her puggy friends but we haven’t seen her pick up a toy…
Sitting on laps and having pats….
Sophie is quite happy with that..
Walkies are so much fun….
Sophie trots with pride and even loves to run…
Sophie is a typical pug coming into Pug Rescue care that we received $0 for taking her but have had to come up with $5,500+ just for her basic essential vet work literally save her life and turn it around…
Sophie says thank pug for Pug Rescue because now a loving furever home for her can be found…
One that will cherish her being around…
SOPHIE XXX
Sophie either sleeps on an indoor doggy bed or a crate that she is happy to share with another pug.
Sophie is toilet trained.
Sophie walks well on a lead and harness and isn’t reactive and is fine in the car.
Sophie knows how to sit and wait and wait until told it’s ok to eat. She is a bit of a manic/scoffing eater.
Sophie’s furever home wishes:
♥ OTHER PUG – YES! Sophie will not be rehomed as a single dog. She has always had a pug companion. She must have a home with a desexed, healthy, not overweight, well trained and very well socialised outgoing but non reactive male pug of a similar age to herself. (approx 6 years to 9 years old) Sophie is fine socalising and even holidaying with most other female pugs/dogs but is not suited to being homed with another female pug.
♥ HUMANS – Sophie is seeking humans that can provide her with good leadership. She is extremely responsive to being shown the correct way to do things.
♥KIDS – Sophie would be fine with younger children who are respectful to dogs.
♥FENCING – Sophie with all of our pugs requires secure brick, timber or colourbond fencing.
♥CATS – Unsure.
♥EXERCISE – Sophie loves her walks and adventures and requires at least a 15+ minute walk a day.
♥WORKING HOURS – Not suitable for homes where she would be left without humans for 6+ hours a day on a regular basis.
♥Sophie absolutely requires air-condition.
♥Access to the inside of her house 24/7 and an indoor bed.
♥HOUSE & YARD SIZE/TYPE: Sophie would like a home with a yard but may be ok in a townhouse/unit with a larger yard area.
Medical notes:
Sophie has undergone specialist airway surgery “BOAS” surgery by Dr Ricky of Melbourne Animal Referral Service (folded palatoplasty to trim and reduce the thickness of her soft palate, widening of her nares/nostrils and tonsillectomy). Her breathing isn’t perfect but it’s much improved. Sophie also underwent hip xrays at the time of her BOAS surgery. She has hip dysplasia that she copes very well with.
Sophie has undergone vet check, vaccination, desexing, skin tag removal and major dental at Knox Vet.
Sophie is desexed, C5 vaccinated, is microchipped & up to date with her worming & flea prevention.
