Who wants Cuddles?…
She promises that if you pick her she will reward you with lots of head tilts and snuggles…
Cheeky but very smart….
After $4,000 in vet work and rehab this little black puggy girl is now looking for a fresh start….
And wonders if there is a place for her in your heart….
Arriving into Pug Rescue care due to her absolutely horrendous horrible sounding breathing that was annoying her previous family along with her manic behaviour….
Cuddles was undesexed, had produced puppies, was obese, had rotting teeth and ear infections and was thankful Pug Rescue became her savior….
2.5kg in weight loss (was 8.5kg now 6kg), ear infections treated, a major dental with 15 rotting teeth removed and desexing performed by Dr Bianka at Knox Vet Clinic has been achieved….
Specialist airway surgery by Dr Ricky from Melbourne Animal Referral Services at Knox Vet has helped Cuddles finally after 6.5 years more easily breathe…
Terrible pedigree genetics causing a tiny trachea, tiny nostrils, soft palate to be thick and elongated and tonsils to be massive made poor Cuddles constant distressing loudly puff and heave…
Her breathing since surgery has now improved drastically….
Manic and both scared…
Cuddles has come along way in Pug Rescue foster care…
Learning that it’s not polite to fight…
And for dinner she must sit right…
High five and sit and wait as well as go to bed are some of the commands and tricks Cuddles knows…
Playing chasey and wrestling with a puggy buddy Cuddles is all go go go…
Soft toys are a blast…
And when going for walkies she loves to go fast….
Despite her name Cuddles is now only learning that being picked up, handled and cuddling is a nice thing to do…
When she arrived into Pug Rescue care she used to scream, wriggle, struggle and panic when handled and picked up but she has been learning that handling and cuddling are actually something nice she can have in her life too…
So if you need more Cuddles in your life….
Miss Cuddles says perhaps she suits your family and home just right…
Cuddles sleeps either in an indoor doggy bed or is also perfectly happy in a crate
Cuddles is toilet trained.
Cuddles walks well on a lead and harness and is fine in the car in a crate or doggy seat belt.
Cuddles knows how to sit and wait and will wait until told it’s ok to eat. She also knows how to do high five.
Cuddles’s furever home wishes:
♥ OTHER DOG – Yes! Cuddles needs a companion pug. A healthy male pug – desexed, well trained and well socialised, non reactive, non dominant, calm, healthy weight (between 6.5kg to 8.5kg), healthy pug aged between approx 5 to 8 years. Cuddles has gained so much from living with other pugs. She enjoys the companionship as well as playing wrestling and chasey other pugs. Cuddles is not suited to being placed with another female pug as there will be fights. Cuddles is not suitable to be homed with another breed of dog. She is not suited as a single dog.
♥ HUMANS – Cuddles is seeking humans that can provide her with strong leadership. She is responsive to being shown the correct way to do things and thrives with routine. She is extremely smart and understands instructions but can become unsure/timid at times due to her anxiety and past life. She needs a home that understand that she came into care manic and not used to being picked up, handled or cuddled. Cuddles is fence reactive. Cuddles can never be allowed to become overweight again!!!!
♥KIDS – Cuddles has previously lived with young children. We would recommend if her new home does have young children they are dog savvy and will not hype her up.
♥ Cuddles as with all of our pugs requires secure brick, timber or colourbond fencing. Cuddles requires fencing that can not be seen through.
♥CATS – No! Whilst Cuddles has previously lived with a very old blind docile cat we feel that cats pose a great risk of injury to her large eyes. It’s a risk we are not willing to take.
♥EXERCISE – Cuddles requires at least a 15 to 20 minute walk a day and is continuing to build up her fitness to 30+ minute walks.
♥WORKING HOURS – Not suitable for homes where she would be left without humans for 6+ hours a day on a regular basis.
♥Cuddles absolutely requires air-condition.
♥Access to the inside of her house 24/7 and an indoor bed.
♥HOUSE & YARD SIZE/TYPE: Cuddles needs a home with a small to medium yard and is not suited to townhouses/units that have no or very tiny outdoor areas.
Medical notes:
Cuddles has lost 2.5kg in weight. She was 8.5kg and is now 6kg

Cuddles has undergone specialist airway surgery by Dr Ricky of Melbourne Animal Referral Services (folded palatoplasty to trim and reduce the thickness of her soft palate, widening of her nares/nostrils and tonsillectomy) Whilst her breathing is drastically improved it will never be perfect.
Cuddles has undergone full bloods at Knox Vet.
Cuddles has undergone a major dental with 15 teeth removed at Knox Vet.
